We invite you to the next edition of the “Scientia et Fides” seminars ✅
🌌 The main theme of this year’s lectures and discussions will be the question of the new creation: the new earth and the new heaven 🌍✨ – the promise announced in the eschatological texts of Christianity.
🔴 Details of the first seminar
🗓 Thursday, 9 October 2025
⏰ 7:00 p.m. (lecture + discussion)
📍 Faculty of Theology, Nicolaus Copernicus University, ground floor, Room 2
🌐 Online participation available via Microsoft Teams
👉 The meeting will be held in English.
📄 In the Catholic tradition, the object of Christian hope is “the life of the world to come” (vitam venturi saeculi – as professed in the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed of 381) ✝️✨
❓ How should we understand this expression and its biblical foundation, “a new heaven and a new earth”? 🌍🌌
❓ What is the role of material creation 🐦🌱 in the eschatologically transformed reality?
❓ What significance does the teaching of St. Thomas Aquinas 📖🖋️ have in this context?
❓ And finally, what consequences does this have for a proper care for creation 🌿🤲?
👤 Speaker: Prof. Jörgen Vijgen – Ordinary Member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas, researcher at the Thomas Instituut in Utrecht. Together with Fr. Piotr Roszak, he has published numerous works in the field of biblical Thomism.
❗️ Online participation available 💻.
